The Oregon Bikepacking Triple Crown

Beginning in 2025, Northwest Competitive Adventure is proud to partner with Odyssey of the VOG and the Oregon Timber Trail to present the Oregon Bikepacking Triple Crown. The OB3C consists of three iconic Oregon bikepacking races:
- Odyssey of the VOG, which highlights the beautiful and unrelenting gravel roads of the coast range over 350 miles. Riders will weave their way between 500+ year old Douglas Fir and Western Hemlocks as they make their way from Salem to the Oregon Coast and back. The Grand Depart takes place in May.
- Oregon Timber Trail Race, which showcases some of the most incredible backcountry singletrack available across Oregon, extending 800 miles from the California border to Washington. A 300 mile version of this route ends in Oakridge and also qualifies for the Triple Crown. The Grand Depart for the OTTR takes place in July.
- And of course, The Big Lonely, a circuitous traverse of all the terrain that Central Oregon offers: deep river canyons, 8000′ peaks, dark ponderosa pine forests, and the unpredictable conditions of the desert in October. The Big Lonely is 350 miles with more than 100 miles of singletrack, ~175 miles of gravel roads of varying condition, and 75 miles of paved scenic bikeways including the Crooked River & Lake Billy Chinook. The Big Lonely Grand Depart takes place in Octobe
The Oregon Triple Crown Rules:
Riders are expected to complete each of these routes in a calendar year in order to be included in the General Classification and considered an official Oregon Bikepacking Triple Crown Finisher. Taking part in each grand depart is encouraged but not required; ITT (Individual Time Trial) completions will also be accepted provided riders record their ride in full and submit the GPX file to the respective organizers. Riders must also register their intent by completing the form at the bottom of the rules list.
The few rules that exist to keep the playing field level are:
- Complete the routes as they are posted by the race organizers on their website for that calendar year.
- Complete the routes under your own power, riding a continuous line with no time limit.
- Complete the route self-supported.
- Register your intent using this Jotform Link
